Mooney drivers share a unique and deeply seated characteristic - they like to go fast!  If a Cessna is akin to a Chevrolet and a Bonanza is akin to a Mercedes, then the Mooney is akin to a Porsche.  Mooneys are among the most efficient and structurally sound airplanes manufactured.  The low profile cross-section and laminar flow wings reduce drag to enable the fast air speeds typically unachievable in other manufacturers' airplanes with similar horsepower.  The tubular steel frame, acting as a cockpit roll cage, along with the wingtip-to-wingtip wing spar, make the Mooney airframe the strongest and safest among GA airplanes.

1968 was the first year for the M20C "Ranger" model and it's the most common of the early Mooneys.  The Ranger model was upgraded with a one-piece windshield, an improved manual landing gear retraction system, and improved engine mounts that reduced engine vibration and noise.  The '68 still included the legendary "Clean Wing" with flush rivets and inspection panels.  This airplane features a IFR panel suitable for cross-country or $100 Hamburger flights while providing easy entry into complex airplanes.  The manual "Johnson Bar" landing gear system is favored by Mooney purists for it's simplicity in design and reliability.  It is a very stable and efficient cross-country airplane with performance that won't break the bank.
